Job Summary:
The Salon Manager & Stylist is a dual role responsible for overseeing all facets of the salon's daily operations while also providing top-notch hair styling services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both salon management and hairstyling, coupled with excellent leadership skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to inspire and manage a team of stylists to achieve performance targets. You will be instrumental in creating a positive work environment, ensuring the highest quality of guest service, driving salon profitability through service and retail sales, and maintaining operational excellence in partnership with salon ownership.
What You'll Do:
Leadership & Operational Excellence:
- Oversee all day-to-day salon operations, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and profitable workflow.
- Lead, manage, mentor, and motivate a team of stylists, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment focused on achieving individual and salon goals.
- Manage staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage, especially during peak hours, and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Implement and uphold all salon policies, procedures, and Supercuts brand standards, ensuring staff compliance with required training programs.
- Train and develop staff, providing guidance on technical skills, guest service, business-building strategies, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as retail-to-service attachment rates (RSAR).
- Drive efforts to enroll guests in the Supercuts Rewards Program and other loyalty initiatives.
- Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and resolve any issues promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Manage the salon’s budget, track financial performance against targets, and report on key metrics to ownership.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, managing vendor relationships, and conducting regular inventory audits (e.g., quarterly retail and consumable inventory).
- Ensure the salon consistently meets high standards of cleanliness and organization by managing and delegating routine cleaning tasks to the team and ensuring their completion.
- Maintain financial integrity, including accountability for salon funds, accurate transaction processing, and addressing any discrepancies.
- Plan and execute local marketing and promotional activities to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
- Perform administrative tasks, including register transactions, close-out procedures, banking, and ensuring consistent computer and store operational flow.
- Maintain responsive and timely communication with salon ownership, providing updates and collaborating on initiatives.
Stylist Expertise:
- Perform high-quality hair cutting, styling, coloring, highlights, and treatments according to the latest trends and Supercuts techniques.
- Conduct thorough consultations with guests to understand their preferences, provide professional recommendations, and ensure a great experience.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Proactively educate guests on home care and recommend retail products to enhance their service and achieve salon retail goals, including improving retail attachment rates.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new products, and advanced techniques through ongoing training and self-development.
What You'll Bring:
- Valid Florida Cosmetology license.
- Proven experience as a Hair Stylist with strong proficiency in cutting, styling, coloring, and chemical services.
- Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a salon environment is preferred, with a track record of achieving results.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, develop, and manage a team towards performance targets.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- A genuine passion for the beauty industry and a commitment to providing outstanding guest service.
- Proven ability to drive sales (service and retail), meet targets, and contribute to profitability in a salon environment.
- Strong understanding of key salon performance metrics (e.g., retail attachment, client retention, sales targets, rewards program enrollment).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency with salon software/computerized registers and basic administrative tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage and partner effectively with salon ownership, providing timely updates and collaborating on initiatives.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A proactive approach to maintaining salon cleanliness and operational standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for sustained periods.
- Frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive movement with fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
- Continuous grasping and reaching, often above shoulder level.
- Ability to be exposed to various chemicals and fragrances used in performing services.
- Ability to observe guest's hair, including close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests regarding services offered, their needs, and preferences.
- Occasional travel to meetings, which may sometimes be out of town and overnight.
